SDGs

SDGs

Sustainable Development Goals also known as SDGs, are a set of 17 goals created by the United Nations to tackle issues like poverty, inequality, and climate change by 2030. They're like a roadmap for making the world as a better place for everyone.

For this session, I will explain to you about SDGs number 2

SDG 2: Zero Hunger

Goal 2 aims to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. It encompasses efforts to ensure access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for all people year-round, enhance agricultural productivity, and address chronic hunger worldwide. Key targets include ending hunger and malnutrition, promoting sustainable agriculture, ensuring fair and secure access to nutritious food, reducing food waste, and supporting small-scale farmers.

Extreme hunger and malnutrition remains a barrier to sustainable development and creates a trap from which people cannot easily escape. Hunger and malnutrition mean less productive individuals, who are more prone to disease and thus often unable to earn more and improve their livelihoods.

It is projected that more than 600 million people worldwide will be facing hunger in 2030. Why there are so many ? It's because of the food prices remain higher in more countries than in the period 2015–2019. Along with conflict, climate shocks, and rising cost of living, civil insecurity and declining food production have all contributed to food scarcity and high food prices.

Also, there are so many children under 5 that affected by stunting (with 148 million children), wasting disease (with 45 million children), and overweight (with 37 million children). For the anemia in women aged 15-49, there are no progress on reducing them.

So, what can we do to help the zero hunger? In simple way, we can do :

  • Reduce food waste
  • Store food correctly
  • Support the local farmer
  • Urban farming
